KorTerra Announces Strategic Relationship with MapFrame
Minneapolis, MN – November 11th, 2002 – KorTerra announced its tactical relationship with MapFrame Corporation, a mobile mapping solutions company. KorTerra will use MapFrame’s map based data application and integrate it into their ticket receiving and dispatch software solution.
MapFrame’s FieldSmart viewing and sketching applications enable field technicians to quickly and easily view any type of GIS or map data in the mobile environment. MapFrame’s unique compression technology typically allows for fitting entire service territories of multiple facility owners on each mobile device. MapFrames server process, Field Flow Manager, automatically moves map updates to the field users on a daily basis. This ensures that all field technicians start each day with the most current facilities maps.
“The relationship we have developed between KorTerra and MapFrame is a logical fit,” said Chris Stendal, President, KorTerra division, “Being able to use digital maps to screen tickets in the office will help further streamline our client’s operations and through access to digital maps in the field, locators will be more efficient in marking the dig site, doing so quicker and with more precision than without the help of MapFrame.”
KorTerra is working to integrate the MapFrame application into the KorTerra software suite to easily zoom directly to the facility maps associated with a ticket. This functionality will allow Korterra users to map utilities at the click of a button. Korterra Suite customers will be able to use this feature as an add-on to their current suite.
“Field crews performing locates need timely and accurate ticket information and simple to use maps that are current. MapFrame is pleased to work closely with KorTerra as it merges the two most advanced, field proven, and widely used mobile solutions for One Call ticket tracking and mapping into one combined offering. This combined mobile solution clearly adds value to the locating operation by dramatically increasing productivity while simultaneously reducing damages”, said Ted Eynon of MapFrame.
MapFrame and KorTerra will be hosting a joint presentation at this year’s Damage Prevention Convention speaking on a real life example of the success a utility experienced through implementing an integrated mapping tool into their ticket receiving software. The presentation will include implementation/integration steps taken, functionality description, live demonstration, and the utility’s amazing return on investment and operations streamlining benefits detail.
