KorTerra C/S Herald

Locating is a mission critical operation. Locating operations cannot afford emergencies to be missed, systems to go down, or One Call Center communications to fail. Appropriately named, the KorTerra®  Herald is the component of KorTerra®  Dispatch that is responsible for identifying potential problems and alerting users of different situations that require human intervention. The KorTerra Herald allows users to be aware of and resolve problems quickly before they cause property damage, injury or death.

How KorTerra Herald works:

  • Alerts Users Requiring Action - KorTerra Herald alerts users of situations requiring action. As these different messages/emergencies flow into the system, the Herald is responsible for notifying KorTerra Users to take action.
  • Visible and Audible Notification - The Herald, always running, will notify users with a visual and audible notification. The Herald also has the ability to send messages to an email account, pager, cell phone, or PDA. Anywhere a text message can be received, the Herald can send a notification message. The notification informs users that human interaction is required.
  • Multiple Message Types - The KorTerra Herald alerts users based on multiple message types:
    • Ticket Messages – such as emergencies, short notice and ticket updates.
    • One Call Messages – the Herald notifies users about different One Call messages such as board meetings or broadcast messages.
    • System Messages – KorTerra Herald issues messages regarding system activities. The Herald receives messages from different monitoring applications within KorTerra that monitor everything from the network to One Call Ticket Receiving to background applications to ensure the software and network are running properly.
  • Meet Conflicts - The Herald sends notification if there is a meet conflict. If a meet arrives within ½ hour of another meet already scheduled for a particular locator, the Herald notifies the dispatcher. A dispatcher can then reschedule the meet as soon as the conflict is known. This way no meets are missed, and the locators time can be better scheduled.
  • Message Configuration - The messages in the Herald are configurable based on each organizations needs. Different ways they can be configured include:
    • Message Sorting - Sorting into groups based on One Call Center, zone, and member code.
    • Message Groups - Assigning the message groups to the appropriate recipient. For example, a hardware system related message would go to the appropriate technical person and an emergency ticket message would be routed to the appropriate dispatcher. This can be set up for what is most logical for each organization.
    • Unlimited Message Groups - The Herald can have an unlimited number of message groups.

Benefits of KorTerra Herald:

  • Problem Identification/Notification - KorTerra Herald identifies possible problem areas at the One Call Center, within an organization’s computing environment, or with a locating operation. Through the Herald, organizations are notified of issues so they may be resolved as quickly as possible.
  • Address Problem Areas Quickly - Using the Herald ensures users are in touch with their business and able to address problem areas as soon as they arise. By allowing organizations to take immediate action, the Herald helps to eliminate penalties and avoid damages.
