New Ideas and Innovation at KorTerra's 2009 User Conference
Minneapolis, MN – August 31st, 2009 – KorTerra wrapped up another successful user conference, attended by contract locators, utilities, municipalities and One Call Centers that utilize the KorTerra Product Suite to manage their locate tickets. The purpose of the conference was to explore software enhancement ideas based on new business needs that arise in organizations working in the damage prevention industry.
KorTerra Enterprise clients were invited to view current KorTerra software enhancements, listen to a variety of guest speakers’ presentations on industry issues and technology, and participate in roundtable sessions to generate new ideas. Business needs were identified during the industry-segmented roundtable sessions, and software solutions were recorded and discussed by the group.
KorTerra works directly with their clients to generate new software enhancements, with the belief that the users know how to best make the software work. The conference provided a forum for users to communicate new ideas and ways to improve the software with features and functionality that draw from their first-hand experience. The open atmosphere and idea exchange is unique to KorTerra, and truly sets their software apart from other industry providers.

Besides discussing KorTerra software enhancements and the roundtable sessions, three guest speakers representing different segments of the damage prevention industry, presented their ideas and solutions to the group. Rob Hathaway from DeLorme, a leading provider of mapping products used in locating, discussed how XMap and GPS are used in the viewing, locating and editing of GIS assets. Mark F. Palma, a lawyer and general counsel to Gopher State One Call, discussed damage prevention industry issues and challenges of the future. Dennis Heath from Tri-Global Technologies, a provider of innovative GPS/GIS field solutions and data collection services, showed how their UtiliMapper Software and Trimble GPS equipment can integrate locating and mapping processes.
