FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
KorTerra Selected to Present at GITA Geospatial Solutions Conference
Minneapolis, MN – December 29th, 2010 – KorTerra was selected to speak at the 2011 GITA Geospatial Solutions Conference that will take place in Dallas, TX. GITA (The Geospatial Information & Technology Association) is the professional association for anyone using geospatial technology to help operate, maintain, and protect the infrastructure, which includes organizations such as utilities, telecommunication companies, and the public sector. GITA holds several different conferences throughout the year, focusing on different aspects of GIS use.
The Geospatial Solutions conference takes place in Dallas, TX from April 10-14, 2011. This year’s conference has been completely revamped based on user feedback. The conference will include new speakers, new programs and new networking opportunities. The new focal point of the conference is to provide contemporary, credible, comprehensive information from which users will greatly benefit. A snapshot of the GIS issues that you will be brought up to speed on include:
• Which aspects of our infrastructure require the most attention, and the latest approaches to ensuring their sustainability
• Solutions that are in place now that work and how they will evolve as time goes on
• How regulatory compliance will impact near term decisions
• How can you leverage your current systems in order to maximize their lifespan and increase their efficiency
• What the latest trends are that require your attention
KorTerra will be presenting a 25 minute technology demonstration and discussion. Their session, titled “Closing the Gap Between One Call and GIS” will highlight the various ways to integrate the use of GIS technology within the damage prevention industry. As a software developer in the damage prevention industry, KorTerra discovered the need for a more integrated way to connect One Call processes with GIS systems. The pressure for a closer connection, complete continuity and safety between these two entities has greatly increased due to the scarcity of time, employee and financial resources. Further, the traditional way of combining applications is filled with additional burdensome steps for IT, GIS and end users. Many organizations utilize some form of GIS mapping and/or ticket management system. By combining their knowledge of GIS technology, damage prevention policies, and One Call procedures, KorTerra is able to provide new ways of integrating One Call and GIS functions. This solution also further enhances GIS capabilities, such as searching mapping databases using GIS spatial features and streamlining field workflows to produce a more productive work environment. By working with a broad set of GIS platforms, KorTerra has taken a standards-based approach to GIS integration. The details of the approach will be shared, along with the value it brings and tips to help conference attendees do the same.
Brad Johnson from KorTerra, Inc. will be giving the presentation. Johnson states, “This is a great opportunity for KorTerra to share with the GIS community innovative ways GIS data can be applied to facility protection.”
