KorTerra to Speak at the 2011 MEA Gas Operations Technical & Leadership Summit

Minneapolis, MN – May 19th, 2011 – KorTerra has been chosen to present at the 2011 MEA (Midwest Energy Association) Gas Operations Technical & Leadership Summit.  The 88th annual conference takes place at Iowa State University in Ames, IA from August 2 - 4.  The mission of the Gas Operations Technical & Leadership Summit is focused on learning and supporting future operational leadership trends in the gas transmission industry.

There has been a major conference overhaul this year in order to address the changing needs of the gas industry and provide a more focused learning experience.  As the gas industry changes in respect to increased technological and leadership knowledge, workforce experience and more third party scrutiny, a new set of sessions were created to address these issues.

The new conference tracks were developed to provide the best educational impact for business improvement and personal development.  All courses are presented by subject matter experts in classroom and hands-on environments.  Attendees are also presented the opportunity to meet and discuss conference topics at length with industry peers and equipment representatives.  There are also outdoor exhibits, demonstrations, hospitality suites and a pig roast planned for the event.

The conference’s new tracks for concentrated, focused learning include:

• Leadership/Workforce Development
• New Technology
• Regulatory Compliance
• Safety
• Engineering & Technical Training – Basic
• Engineering & Technical Training – Advanced
• Core Utility Knowledge

John Christiansen, a KorTerra sales executive, will be speaking at the event.  John’s session, titled “Bridging the Gap Between Ticket Management and Damage Prevention” is part of the Engineering & Technical Training – Basic track.  In this presentation, facility operators and locators will learn about three areas critical to the success of their one call ticket management and damage prevention operations: regulatory documentation, recovering damages and streamlining ticket management processes.  The proper documentation and storage methods of one call tickets will be discussed, along with audit reports that can be produced.  Methods to protect your organization and help recover costs incurred through pipeline damage caused by excavators will be provided.  Lastly, an overview of how to streamline the locate process using an electronic ticket management system will be given.

Attendees of this session will learn how to:

• Properly document locate information as required by the pipeline regulatory organizations
• Perform one call ticket audits
• Protect their organization from damage expenses through accurate and detailed locate information storage
